BYU forward enjoyed a stellar college season and emerges as the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.
Yesterday at 9:00 PM (Brasília time), the 2026 NBA Draft took place, where franchises select young prospects out of college basketball hoping to bolster their rosters. The first round concluded yesterday with 30 total picks; today features the second round with another 30 picks, bringing the draft total to 60 selections.
The Washington Wizards won the draft lottery and secured the top overall pick. The main question leading up to the draft was: “Who will the Wizards pick?” Expectation was heavily leaning toward Kansas guard Darryn Peterson due to the immense hype surrounding him as arguably the highest-potential prospect since LeBron James.
However, with the No. 1 overall selection, the Wizards chose BYU forward AJ Dybantsa. Despite not winning the NCAA tournament, AJ had a sensational college season. He is a phenomenal player known for his explosive play, athleticism, and endless drive on the court. He is a complete player every franchise would love to feature in their rotation. The forward now joins Trae Young, Anthony Davis, and the Wizards’ young core in pursuit of a playoff spot and a strong run in the upcoming NBA season.
