Ayase Ueda (twice), Daichi Kamada, and Junya Ito provided the goals in a dominant performance by the Samurai Blue in Mexico. Furthermore, the result confirmed the early elimination of Tunisia, who no longer have a mathematical chance of advancing to the knockout round.
With this win, Japan reached four points and moved into second place in Group F, trailing only the Netherlands on goal difference. The Asian nation will look to seal its place in the round of 32 on Thursday (25) at 8:00 PM (Brasília time) when they face Sweden in Dallas.
Tunisia, on the other hand, cannot surpass Sweden in the standings even if they win their final match due to head-to-head tiebreakers, having suffered a 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opener. The African side will conclude their tournament campaign on the same date and time in Kansas City against the Netherlands.
